Manduka highlights the importance of sustainable materials by saying that sustainability is the new technology. They use only raw fibers whenever possible choosing fabrics that are kind to the earth, soft on the skin and designed for performance. Their cotton is soft, non-GMO, 100% organic and grown without the use of harmful fertilizers or pesticides. Some of their products are made of hemp — a naturally cool, dry fabric requiring less water and fewer pesticides than conventional cotton. More technical raw materials are Modal Sun®, a man-made fiber created from sustainably-grown beechwood - with added UPF sun protection. Sorona®, An alternative to polyester made in part from bio-based ingredients. And Tencel®, crafted from regenerated, sustainably-grown wood. Tencel® is made with a closed-loop manufacturing process that creates zero waste. A zero waste mission has added some recycled materials to Mandukas collection as well. Polyester makes clothing like bras and leggings soft and strong. Manduka uses GRS-certified recycled polyesters (RPET) made of recycled plastic bottles.
To deliver the best quality with high-performance, Manduka has developed technical fabrics by mixing different raw materials to add the performance and specific qualities to their fabrics. These technologies enable the sweat-wicking fabric, four-way stretch and great breathability adding the comfort to your workout. If traditional manufacturing processes negatively impact the Earth, Manduka always searches for alternatives in their production process. They hold themselves and their products to the highest standards - and consistently strive to minimize the environmental footprint.
